North American Magic The Worst Thing to Happen to Harry Potter Since Voldemort J.K. phoned it in. We can all say it. Folks were pretty excited when they first heard about new stories in the Harry Potter universe. First there was the announcement of Fantastic Beasts, and although the casting seemed a bit, er, homogenized for 1920s New York, most people were willing to look the other way. Next came the stage play The Cursed Child and the revelatory casting of a black woman as Hermione. Awesome, I thought, maybe Harry Potter isn’t as messed up with regards to race as I think it is (because I think it’s pretty fucked up and I’m not the only one). But then, Pottermore released Rowling’s History of Magic in North America, and yo. Yo. It’s pretty fucked up. Forget the terrible set up, the categorization of hundreds of tribes throughout North America as a monolith, the weird refusal to acknowledge colonization, the Native magic constructed straight from a Cliffs Notes version of Disney’s Native American stereotypes, the assertion that OF COURSE Native Americans didn’t have wands, that’s a European thing (also: so, no other culture could seem to figure out that wands strengthen their magic but the Europeans? I mean…wow). Put all of that problematic BS aside (if you can, there’s a lot) and you still come to the one, central truth. J.K. phoned it in. The History of Magic in North America is what happens when a fourth grader Googles information about his essay on Oklahoma the night before it’s due, ten minutes before his bedtime, and ends up plagiarizing the Onion and citing it as a credible source. I am not a die hard Harry Potter fan. I did not wait in lines at bookstores at midnight to get a copy of the book. I didn’t dress up in gear from my favorite Hogwart’s House or wait in line to get into the Wizarding World a week after it opened and I only barely know what house I belong to (Gryffindor, every single time).  But if I had dedicated hours and hours of my life to the fandom I’d be pissed. While the rest of the Harry Potter books and movies show a casual disregard for inclusiveness and rely on token minority characters (when they appear at all), the History of Magic in North America is the literary equivalent of performing in black face, although I suppose in this case it’s red face. I discussed on twitter why Rowling’s history of Magic in North America was lazy, but it’s worse than that. While it’s easy for readers to hand wave away the terrible representation in the earlier works, and by extension the movies (which have the whitest London ever depicted since My Fair Lady), it isn’t easy to dismiss this newest work. Rowling cobbled together random bits of found folklore and woo-woo like a New Age practitioner trying for a fresh identity after their third divorce. This isn’t worldbuilding, this isn’t a fresh and new spin on well-known tropes for a deeper message. This is a literal laundry list of stereotypes about Native Americans that required no thought or deeper examination. It’s hurtful to Native Americans and harmful, spreading problematic tropes, but its also insulting to the fans who have spent their money and time on the franchise. The Harry Potter Fandom should expect more. Many of our nation’s children are brought up in an environment that is ill conducive to their well-being and thus fails to provide them with necessary skills and traits requisite for future success. There are many things that contribute to molding a child’s personality—such as friends, television, and school. However, it is the parents that are the main determining factor in the child’s development, because they are the highest authority in regard to the child, by deciding such things as what schools the child will attend and directly as well as indirectly influencing the child simply through the relationship they share and the behaviors they set forth as example. Foster parents can oftentimes be abusive, and due to the child knowing that they are not with their biological parents they may have greater cause to rebel; this, along with abuse, may produce problems that send them from foster home to foster home, which, all of this being considered, is certainly an unstable environment for a child to grow up in. Adoption results in a family similar to one where the child’s guardians are their actual parents, yet the only considerable difference is that they are not the biological parents. Any problems found in an adopted family that could lead to the child’s poor development will also be found in a family where the parents are biological. This clearly shows that even the alternatives require some strict form of parental licensing system. It is accepted that children must be taken care of and kept safe, but almost never looked at why. So, for the moment, I would like to look at the reasons. Children are the future, and it is essential to keep them safe to ensure their development and success. If a child is raised effectively, then they will be less likely to contribute to crime and more likely to add to the safe guard of others. With the decrease of children turning into criminal adults, there will be less strain put on the government. Thus, there will be more money for more important things such as education, health benefits, and well-needed repairs in society. In addition, more qualified and capable people will regulate the government due to their effective upbringing as children. Furthermore, the overall social well-being of citizens, simply from the decrease of criminal activities, will be higher and produce safer communities. Parent licensing will be established in a similar manner as the licenses that are already required for performing many other acts. Just as we require licensing for activities dealt with by drivers and physicians—activities that are potentially harmful to others—parent licensing will be established because of the severity of injuries that can be caused to children and the future that they are to be a part of. Many people believe that parent licensing would be inappropriate because it would intrude into their lives. However, the invasion would be only at the beginning and at a later period of time if there were probable cause that showed necessity for attention. Similarly, when someone gets their drivers license, at the beginning they give out all of the information required, and later there will only be an intrusion if they were involved in a car accident or something significant that requires their attention. Furthermore, people will have plenty of opportunity to obtain a parent license if they desire to do so. Much like a drivers license, if they do not show qualifications for at least the minimal competence required to drive, then they have an opportunity to do so at a later time; until then they can take a course or study to prepare for the test. Thus, people who do not have the capability to attain a parent license the first time around, may be inspired to take the necessary steps to ensure that they obtain their parenting license. Many people would object by saying that it would be too difficult to apply and put too much financial strain on the government. They claim it is too difficult because there are most likely more children waiting for adoption than there are individuals willing to adopt, let alone individuals qualified as being an adopter. Also, they say that by not allowing some children, as unfortunate as it is, to be raised in a household not entirely appropriate for their upbringing, far more funds will need to be provided to programs that exist as temporary housings for those children who have not yet been found suitable caretakers. However, parent licensing is the best we can do to ensure that the children are brought up in a manner suitable to guarantee their success and development. It is true that in the beginning it may be costly and difficult, but this is only looking at the present, for in the future it will be beneficial. The strain on government would be likely to go down enormously because, as noted earlier, there would be less social delinquents committing criminal acts, which would require less facilities or programs dealing with crimes, and it will produce an overall social environment. The government will be well run with people well qualified for positions. If we are to allow driver’s licenses then we should most definitely have parent licensing. If you hit someone with your car, it is not going to create a chain reaction; they may get injured but once they are healed it does not mean that they are going to go out and hit other cars themselves. However, parenting is a delicate thing, for a child is being raised who is active and can influence the world around him or her on a daily basis—for good or bad. This child, as is possible, if turned out as incompetent, can become an inadequate parent as well, and thus raise an incompetent child of their own. One such novel is Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird. One may describe this novel as a classic because the messages described in the novel can be perceived on so many different levels that any reader, no matter the level, can observe these messages. The prime messages observed in this novel is that of racism, how the actions of a community, not just a parent, can affect a child, and how rumors and invalidated facts can destroy anyone's reputation. Racism is mentioned throughout the second part of the novel. It is the prime and most mentioned part of this section of the novel. This message is displayed on many levels so even the lowest level reader can visibly ask oneself why this is occurring. The easiest way to observe this may be the town's actions toward Tom Robinson, the negro on trial. The townspeople, for the most part, dismissed the entire trial on the basis on that it does not matter what Atticus can do, Mr. Robinson is automatically guilty. This message can also be seen in a severely symbolic manner, Tom Robinson's death. The manner in which he dies is that he escapes and attempts to climb the fence to freedom, however he only has one good arm and that is his detriment. It slows him up enough to allow the police to shoot him numerous times. Symbolically this can be viewed as a glimmer of hope to end this suppression. As this glimmer of hope is about to reach the mainstream and acceptance that racism is evil, it is shot down and dead, thus ending the opportunity. Mr. Robinson got into this position by the jury giving in a guilty verdict, despite numerous evidence to the contrary. The jury gave a racist verdict, showing Harper Lee's opinion of the evil a racist society can do to a minority. This verdict had repercussions not just to Mr. Robinson, but to the community. One can observe that this verdict influenced the town in a manner no one expected, it twisted the minds of many children. A popular saying is that the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray, this is what began to happen to the children of the town, best viewed when observing the Finch children. Despite Atticus' plans to raise children who do not have this type of hate within them, they have these feelings due to some community actions, Atticus' plan going astray. A prime example is Scout's answer to the question of the manner in which the prosecuting attorney addressed Mr. Robinson during his cross examination. Her answer was that he could do that because ...he's just a negro.(p. 199) This issue is not just the white community pressing an idea into someone's head. It can also happen in the black community. When Atticus Finch asks Calpurnia, his housekeeper, to watch his children for him while he is out, Calpurnia accepts and takes the children with her to church, a black church. When she arrives with the children they are all greeted with hospitality except for a few people. These people use the same argument as in the last example as to why they should not be there, because they are white. What both races have done is shun the other race, now what happens if a child is born with blood from both races. What happens is an isolated race that is exiled from both races because that child has blood from the other race. This evil act can be seen in the novel. The county practically exiles the children of Dolphus Raymond and his black spouse. It is done to the point that these children are forced to live in the non-racist north where they would not be looked down on as genetic freaks. After reading this, one would wonder of the community's reaction to Dolphus Raymond, whose committing a great sin by having children with a black woman. As I flip through the channels I realize how superficial and unrealistic the actresses truly are. I also began to notice one common thread between all of the women portrayed on television; most look like they just got done with a photo shoot for Cosmopolitan or Playboy. The men portrayed seem to be a little more realistic and down to earth. This brought out a startling realization that men can be just the guys next door; while women need to be drop dead gorgeous. The Roseanne sitcom is the only show that I can think of that didnt fit these generalizations. When looking back at what I gained from watching Roseanne, the television sitcom from the late eighties, I see a woman who wasnt afraid to tell the world, World, this is who I am. Deal with it! I really feel Roseanne lived by this motto. She was over-weight boisterous, sometimes downright obnoxious person, but she always seemed to have her heart in the right place. She was a positive role model to many, encouraging many women to show off to society who they really are, giving us a sense of inner-beauty for a change. American women did not have to compete with her, only themselves. Nobody started over-eating to look like Roseanne (nor really wanted to), but she inspired many to believe that it is all right to be over-weight. In fact, Roseanne and people with weight management problems make up approximately sixty percent of the U.S. population; try finding that percentage of lead roles on television that are women. Only thin women land roles as television leads on sitcoms, and seeing an over-weight woman the star of a sitcom up until the eighties was just unheard of. Lines and Slopes in SAT Math Geometry Strategies SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips In our SAT guide to lines and angles, we dealt with parallel lines, perpendiculars, and the many different ways to find angle measures with two or more lines. Now, we’ll look at the other aspect of lines, namely their slopes and equations. This will be your complete guide to lines and slopes- what slopes mean, how to find them, and how to solve the many types of slope and line equation questions you’ll see on the SAT. What Are Lines and Slopes? Before we start, you may want to take a moment to familiarize yourself with our guide to SAT coordinate points in order to refresh yourself on the basics of coordinate geometry. Basically, coordinate geometry takes place in the space where the $x$-axis and the $y$-axis meet. Any place on this space is given a coordinate point- written as $(x, y)$- that indicates where the point is along each axis. A line (or line segment) is a completely straight marker with no curvature. It is made up of (and connects) a series of points together. A slope is the measure of the slant (steepness) of a line. A slope is found by finding the change in distance along the y axis over the change in distance along the $x$ axis. You are probably most familiar with this concept by finding the â€Å"rise over run† to find the slope of a line. $${\change \in y}/{\change \in x}$$ Here is a typical line, presented on the coordinate grid. To find our slope, first start by marking the points where the line hits the grid at perfect integer coordinates. This will make life simpler when we go to find the slope. Wherever the grid meets at a corner, we will have coordinates that are integers. We can see here that our line hits the coordinates: $(-3, 4)$, $(0, 2)$, and $(3, 0)$. Now let us find the rise and run of the line. Our "rise" will be -2, as we must move down 2 units to reach the next coordinate point in our line. Our run will be +3, as we must move 3 units to the right to reach the next coordinate point in our line. So our final slope will be: $\rise/\run$ $-{2/3}$ Properties of Slopes A slope can either be positive or negative. A positive slope rises from left to right. A negative slope falls from left to right. A straight horizontal line has a slope of zero. It will be defined by one axis only. $y=2$ A straight vertical line has an undefined slope (because run will always be 0, and you can't divide by 0). It will be defined by one axis only. $x=2.5$ The steeper the line, the larger the slope. The red line is steepest, with a slope of $4/1$, or 4. The blue line is not as steep, with a slope of $4/9$ San Francisco knows a little bit about steep slopes. Line and Slope Formulas Finding the Slope $${y_2 - y_1}/{x_2 - x_1}$$ In order to find the slope of a line that connects two points, you must find the change in the y-values over the change in the x-values. (Note: It does not matter which points you assign as $(x_1,y_1)$ and $(x_2,y_2)$, so long as you are consistent.) Given the coordinates $(2, 2)$ and $(-1, 0)$, find the slope of the line. Now, we can solve this question in one of two ways- by drawing a graph and counting, or by using our formula. Since we already saw earlier how it's possible to count out our slope on a graph, let us use our formula to see how it's done. Of the two coordinate points, we must assign one set to be $x_1$ and $y_1$ and the other to be $x_2$ and $y_2$. Let us pick (2, 2) to be our $x_1$ and $y_1$ and (-1, 0) to be our $x_2$ and $y_2$. ${y_2 - y_1}/{x_2 - x_1}$ $(0 - 2)/(-1 - 2)$ ${-2}/{-3}$ $2/3$ But what would have happened had we assigned $(-1, 0)$ to be our $x_1$ and $y_1$ and $(2, 2)$ to be our $x_2$ and $y_2$? We would have gotten the same results either way! ${y_2 - y_1}/{x_2 - x_1}$ $(2 - 0)/(2 - -1)$ $2/3$ No matter which coordinates we assign to be the first or second values for x and y, we will end up with the same slope so long as we are consistent. Equation of a Line $$y=mx+b$$ This is called the â€Å"equation of a line† or a line in "slope-intercept form" and it shows exactly how a line is positioned along the $x$- and $y$-axes as well as how steep it is. This is the most important formula you’ll need when it comes to lines and slopes, so let’s break it into pieces. $y$ is your $y$-coordinate value for any particular value of $x$. $x$ is your $x$-coordinate value for any particular value of $y$. $m$ is the measure of your slope. $b$ is the $y$-intercept value of your line. This means that it is the value where the line hits the $y$-axis (remember, a straight line will only hit each axis a maximum of one time). Find the equation of the line from the graph. We're using the same graph from above, and we can see that the line intersects with the $y$-axis at around $y=0.5.$* We also determined earlier that the slope is $2/3$. So when we put those two pieces of information together, the equation of our line would be: $y = {2/3}x + 0.5$ *If the question wants you to be more specific than "about a half" about what fraction of a number the line hits $x=0$ or $y=0$ at, it will have a more detailed drawing. In this question, while the actual intercept for a line with coordinates $(2,2)$ and $(0,-1)$ would actually be $2/3$ or $0.66$, not $0.5$, the graph is not at a scale where you could reasonably visually estimate that. Remember to always re-write any line equations you are given into the proper form! Often, the test will try to trip you up by giving you an equation not written in proper form and asking for the slope of the line. This is to get people to make a mistake if they are going too quickly through the test. $$tx+12y=-3$$ The equation above is the equation of a line in the $xy$-plane, and $t$ is a constant. If the slope of the line is -10, what is the value of $t$? First, let us put this equation into the proper equation of a line. $tx+12y = −3$ $12y = −tx−3$ $y = - {tx}/{12} -3/12$ Now, we only care about finding the slope, so let’s find the value of t (our slope) by using our given. $-{t/12} = -10$ $-t = -120$ $t = 120$ Our final answer is $t = 120$. Always remember to set up your equation as your first step and you’ll be able to solve most any slope problem quickly and easily. Perpendicular Lines When two lines meet at right angles, the lines are called â€Å"perpendicular.† Perpendicular lines will always have slopes that are negative reciprocals of one another. This means that you must reverse both the sign of the slope as well as the fraction. For example, if a two lines are perpendicular to one another and one has a slope of $3/4$ the other line will have a slope of $-{4/3}$. Perpendicular lines with slopes of $3/4$ and $-{4/3}$ And if a line has a slope of −5, the line that meets it perpendicularly will have a slope of $1/5$. Parallel Lines When two lines will never meet, no matter how infinitely long they extend, the lines are said to be parallel. This means that they are continuously equidistant. If two lines are parallel, they will also have the same slope. You can see why this makes sense, since the rise over run will always have to be the same in order to make sure that the lines will never touch. Parallel lines with slopes of $4/3$ When lines turn devious. Typical Line and Slope Questions Most line and slope questions on the SAT are quite basic at their core. You’ll generally see two questions on slopes per test and almost all of them will simply ask you to find the slope of a line or the equation of a line. The test may attempt to complicate the question by using other shapes or figures, but the questions always boil down to these simple concepts. Just remember to re-write any given equations into the proper slope-intercept form and keep in mind your rules for finding slopes (and your rules for parallel or perpendicular lines). With this knowledge in hand, you’ll be able to solve these types of problems quickly and easily. From the graph, we can see that the y-intercept of the line is (0,1). The line also passes through the point (1,2). This is enough information for us to figure out the slope of the line, which we know is ${\change \in y}/{\change \in x}$. ${2-1}/{1-0}={1}/{1}=1$ Now we know that the slope of the line is 1. In slope-intercept form, the equation for line $l$ is $y=x+1$ or choice D. Our final answer is D. We know that slope is the ${\change \in y}/{\change \in x}$. The equation $y=kx +4$ is already in slope-intercept form, so we know the slope of the line is $k$. We also know that the line contains the point $(c,d)$ which means we can substitute those variables for $(x,y)$ in the equation. This gives us $d=kc+4$ Solving for this equation for the slope, $k$, gives us $k= {d-4}/c$ Our final answer is A, ${d-4}/c$ How to Solve a Line and Slope Problem As you go through your line and slope problems, keep in mind these tips: #1: Always rearrange your equation into $y=mx+b$ The test makers will often present you with an equation of a line that is not in proper form, for example: $4y+3x=12$. If you are going too quickly through the test or if you forget to rearrange the given equation into proper slope-intercept form, you will misidentify the slope of the line. So always remember to rearrange your equation into proper form as your first step. $4y + 3x = 12$ = $y = −{3/4}x + 3$ #2: Always remember your $\rise/\run$ It can be easy to make a mistake try to find the change in $x$ before finding the change in y, as our brains are used to doing things "in order." Keep careful track of your variables in order to reduce careless mistakes of this nature. Remember the mantra of "rise over run" and this will help you always know to find your change in y over your change in $x$. #3: Make your own graph and/or count to find your slope Because the slope is always "rise over run," you can always find the slope with a graph- whether from a given graph or from your own. It's never a bad idea to take a second and make your own graph if you are not provided with one. This will help you better visualize the problem and avoid errors. If you forget your formulas (or simply don't want to use them), simply count how the line rises (or falls) and trace its "run," and you will always find your slope. Oh, for the days when all we needed to know about lines was how to color in (or out of) them.... Test Your Knowledge Now that we’ve walked through the typical slope questions you’ll see on the test (and a few basic tips you’ll need to solve them), let’s put your knowledge to the test. 1. 2. 3. 4. Answers: D, A, B, D Answer Explanations: 1. We know that slope is the ${\change \in y}/{\change \in x}$. We are also told that our slope is -2, which means it must be $-{2/1}$. This means that, for every time our y value decreases by 2, our x value increases by 1. And every time our y value increases by 2, our x value will decrease by 1. If we use our rectangle, we also have one point of reference on the line. We can see that the rectangle has a length of 3 (because it spans horizontally from $x=0$ to $x=3$) and a length of 4 (because it spans vertically from $y=0$ to $y=4$). This means that the rectangle hits the line at the top right corner at coordinates (3, 4). Now we can simply count where the line will hit the y-axis. Because the slope increases horizontally (along the x-axis) one unit at a time, we can see that there will be $3/1 = 3$ even points along the line needed to find the y-intercept. Basically, this means that we are taking the slope, $-{2/1}$, and multiplying it by 3 to get $-{6/3}$. In other words, we are adding 6 to the change in y and subtracting 3 from the change in x because we are taking the slope backwards. So now we can find our new point by saying that we increased our y-value from 4 to $4+6=10$, and we have decreased our x-value from 3 to $3−3=0$, which would give us the new slope of: $(4 + 6)/(3 - 3) = 10/0$ So our new coordinate point is (0, 10), which means that our y-intercept is 10. Our final answer is D, 10. 2. We know that we can find the slope of the line using ${y_2 - y_1}/{x_2 - x_1}$, so let's plug in our coordinates of (0,r) and (s,0) for these values. ${y_2 - y_1}/{x_2 - x_1}$ $(0 - r)/(s - 0)$ $r/s$ Our s will remain unchanged, but our r value will become negative, as it is being subtracted from zero. Our final answer is A. 3. If you count to the point at which the line crosses the y-intercept, you can see it hits at $y=3$ In the equation $y=mx+b$, the b is the y-intercept. That means our b will be 3. We can therefore cross off answer choices A and D, leaving us down to B, C, and E. We can also see that our line falls from left to right, so our slope will be negative. This means we can eliminate answer choice E, leaving us between choices B and C. Now let’s take the two points at which the line hits the axes. We already saw that the line hits the y-intercept at $y=3$ and we can also see that the line hits the x-axis at $x=2$. This means our line hits coordinates (0, 3) and (2, 0). This means that the change in our y value is -3 and the change in our x value is +2. (Why? Because we decreased our y value by 3 and we increased our x value by 2.) So our slope must be $-{3/2}$, which means that our final equation will be: $y = -{3/2}x + 3$ Our final answer is B. 4. We're told that the equation of the line is $y=2x-5$. This means that the slope of the line is 2 and the $y$-intercept is at (0,-5). A slope of 2 means that, for each increase in $x$ of 1, $y$ increases by 2. Looking at each of the graphs, choices C and D are the only lines with a slope of 2. (Don't be fooled by choice B which has a slope of -2). Next we can look at $y$-intercepts. The line in choice C has a $y$-intercept at ($0,5)$, which doesn't match the equation of the line we were given. However, choice D's line has a $y$-intercept at $(0,-5)$, which is exactly what we're looking for. Choice D is the only line with both the correct slope and y-intercept. Our final answer is D. Hurray, hurray! You've found your slopes, you know your lines! Congrats, congrats. The Take-Aways Once you have familiarized yourself with the basics of coordinate geometry, slopes should not be too far off field. Though the SAT will try to complicate problems as much as they are reasonably able, questions on lines and slopes are almost always easier than they appear. Keep your important formulas close to your heart and be vigilant with your negative signs, and you’ll do just fine when it comes to slopes and intercepts. What’s Next? Phew! Structure And Function Of Skin Health And Social Care Essay Marty is a 2-year-old toddler brought into the Emergency Department by his distraught 16 year old single mother, Mandy. Mandy had been heating some chicken soup in the microwave in their council flat in Whitechapel, when her friend Tracey had rung Mandys mobile. Mandy left the boiling soup on the kitchen table leaving Marty alone in the kitchen. Mandy, hearing Martys scream, rushed back into the kitchen to find that Marty must have reached up and tipped the soup over himself mainly over his chest and torso. Mandy immediately removed Martys clothes, and wrapped him in a damp towel, and called for an ambulance. When Marty reaches the Royal London Accident and Emergency he is in considerable pain and is given an analgesic and started on intravenous fluids. Marty is assessed and found to have second-degree partial thickness burns over both of his upper arms and lower abdomen and second degree deep partial thickness burns on his upper chest. At the periphery of these second degree burns are first-degree burns with large blisters developing some of which have burst. In total approximately 30% of Martys BSA is affected. Mandy is distraught and wants to know if Marty will be scarred for life. This remains in the stratum basale. The basal cells found in the stratum basale divide repeatedly to produce a stem cell and another cell which matures and moves upwards towards the surface of the skin. Hull, 2011) When the keratinocytes enter the stratum lucidum, they die due to apoptosis and the nucleus disappears. This is carried out for patients with severe partial thickness, full thickness and fourth degree burns to re-establish the surface of the skin because most of the basal cells have been destroyed. This is then spread over the wound and held in place using staples or stitches. It is made of collagen and carbohydrate and is placed over the wound to allow the patients own cells to grow into this engineered skin. (Leah DiPlacido, 2010) Full thickness (Third Degree) and Fourth degree burns Immediate emergency attention is required for these burns as all the layers of the skin are destroyed. This also increases the likelihood of an infection and therefore, these burns are treated in a sterile environment. (InjuryInformation.com, 2009) All full thickness and fourth degree burns require full-thickness skin grafts in which the transplanted skin includes the underlying muscle and blood supply. Born and name Nur Shahiera Binti Nor Adnan , I am the only daughter of Nor Adnan bin Mohd Nor and Azar binti Kamaluddin. I was born on 2nd May 1995 in Pahang. I am the eldest sister and also the only girl among six siblings. I stayed with family in Kuantan, is the state capital of Pahang. My father a business man and my mother a clerk in the department of works at Kuantan. I am from a humble. I was receiving early education at Tabika Kemas Kampung Cherok Paloh when at the age of 3 years up to 5 years old. After that, my parents transferred at Pra Sekolah Kebangsaan Cherok Paloh which does away with my home. I started my primary education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Cherok Paloh, is the school is located far from the city from 7 years old until 12 years old. During the year 2007, I took the UPSR examination and I passed with flying colours to score 3A 2B’s. I furthered my lower secondary education at SMK Sungai Soi, Kuantan and in the year 2008. This school made me independent and adaptable when I was given the responsibilities to become school prefect. When I was form one, I’ve been listed as one of the best student after I got 8A’s in first exam. The excellent results did not last to form 3 when my PMR results is so bad and I’ve 1A 6B with 1C. When I was in Form 4 and I was so active in co-curricular activities. I have represented the school in netball competition up to the district town. Besides, I also represent the school in competitions Quran recitation ceremony and won third place. I was also able to beat the students of Al Ihsan School of Religion. I’m so excited and happy with some successful. when I was being increased 5 I moved to SMK Ubai because the instruction out due to the results of the examination at the end of Form 4 so badly. I took my SPM examination in the year 2012 and as the result, I got 2A1B3C2E1G. I tried to mantain in some subjects but I failed. I failed checkers additional mathematics and simply pass in chemistry and physics. I highly regret this decision and make my parents disappointed. I as eldest daughter should show good results for my brothers. After school I was asked to participate in the group’s first Pusat Latihan Khidmat Negara at Kem Cahaya Gemilang Cherating, Kuantan. in PLKN I can learn to be a responsible citizen of the country. There also I was able to learn and recognize yourself in more detail. Besides that I also get to know the attitudes of students can excel in further education and to train yourself to be able to work in management. I  received offers from many colleges, but I’m only interested in a field which is at Poly-Tech Mara College of accounts field but my parents do not agree in their field so I suggest that in the field of human resource management. I finally received and have been filling out forms. I love my subjects of Geography Form 1 yet, so I’m trying to find a fi eld that is quite similar to the subjects. I’m interested to know the human population and the environment. So I chose Human Resource Management at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara in Kuantan. The Diploma in Human Capital Management focuses on core competencies, which integrates organization development and human resource content with an emphasis on strategic human capital and development. The programme offers combination of theory and practice which enables students to evaluate the ideas and relate them to the activities that take place in organizations. The programme also will equip students with the necessary skills to enter the market in the area of commerce, banking and manufacturing. I hope I can be a minister of human resources later like Dato Dr. S. Subramaniam. I plan to develop a workforce that is productive, informative, disciplined, caring and responsive to changing labor environment towards enhancing economic growth and increasing employment opportunities. in addition to developing a skilled workforce, knowledgeable and competitive in a harmonious industrial relations environment and social justice. Based on my recommendation, I must study more diligently in this area so that I can achieve my ambitions as an officer of the ministry of human resources. Managing international relations in the field of labor administration, technical cooperation in matters of labor and human resource development is one of the tasks and responsibilities of the ministry of human resources. I hope none of this corruption in the management. I wish and set a high hope that one day I will be able to be a minister of human resources. This is all about me, my education and career planning if I took human resource management as my primary choice to further my study. Despite of deep interest in this field, human resource management also serve a lot of golden opportunity in Malaysia, especially in the future. This job is not only about making money, but also mainly about how to improve my race level in this modernity lives. As this field is less monopolized by the Malay bumiputras, I think I’ve had the responsibility to help my own people. I will surely do anything to achieve my goals.
